3 Ways To Have The Best Year Ever

Although most of the world sees a new year as a time to make massive changes in their lives, it’s the daily choices that lead to lasting change. That’s why New Year’s Resolutions are so ineffectual. This year, you can start and finish strong by making better choices each day. Here are 3 ways to help you have the best year ever.

Break It Down
Whether you want to save for a dream home, start a business, or get healthier, you must acknowledge that it will take time. Our desire for instant gratification can cause us to give up before we have even pursued our goals. Choose one major goal you want to achieve by the end of the year and then break it down into manageable steps. Then, break them down even further. Come up with small tasks that you can complete daily in 10 – 30 minutes. This not only helps you see the goal as a journey (so you don’t give up too soon), but it also makes the goal more manageable.

Keep Track of Your Time
We’re all busy. However, many people use busyness as an excuse to maintain the status quo, even when they claim to want to change. Tracking “wasted time” in your schedule is a simple way to find it. Keep track of what you do all day for at least three days. To keep track, you can use an app, a spreadsheet, or a simple notepad. You’ll soon realize you’re spending more time than you thought watching TV, playing games, and checking social media. Once you realize this wasted time, choose you instead. Use that time to look into career opportunities, pursue a hobby, or spend more time with family. Whatever your goal is this year, committing to working on it every day will ensure that you end the year where you want to be.

Redesign Your Life
Most of us sleepwalk through life more often than we like. Take stock of what makes you happy if you want to live a happier, more fulfilling life. What gives you happiness and makes you feel alive? Redesign your life so that those things are a part of it. Look at your time-tracking list (from above). What obligations and expectations can you change or eliminate completely so that you can live a life full of joy and purpose? Every day, make a conscious decision to live life to the fullest.

I hope these tips help make 2022 the best year ever.

  1. Keeping track of wasted time is eye opening. I started keeping track of everything I did when stuck at home in 2020. I became a lot more productive once I started that. For me, it is amazing how much time I used to spend on my phone between social media, shopping and miscellaneous “research.”

    1. I think most of us would be amazed if we tracked our wasted time. I’m not sure what we did before there was internet. Something tells me my house stayed a lot cleaner 😉
